Code-required observation of concrete, steel, masonry, welding, and fireproofing by ICC-certified inspectors. This is separate from construction materials testing.
Special Inspection Under the IBC
Special inspections are defined by the International Building Code as inspection of construction that requires an approved special inspector to confirm compliance with the code and the approved construction documents. That is different from construction materials testing, which measures properties such as density and strength, and from laboratory testing of sampled materials. GeoTek provides all three so owners work with one firm for testing, inspection, and laboratory work.
IAS-Accredited, ICC-Certified Staff
GeoTek was the first firm in Nevada accredited by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) of the ICC to perform special inspections. Inspectors also hold ICC, ACI, AWS, and local-agency certifications covering concrete, masonry, structural steel, welding, post-tension, shotcrete, and spray-applied fireproofing.
Findings are reported while the work is still accessible. Early notice of non-conforming reinforcing, welding, or fireproofing is how special inspection reduces rework, instead of a stack of reports after the building is closed in.
