Kurt grew up in a small town in Massachusetts roughly 30 miles south of Boston. After graduating from high school, he began his military career by attending and graduating from the United States Military Academy in 1985 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Over the course of the next nine years, he served the country as a US Army Officer in Corps Engineers. He served in troop leading assignments with the 20th Engineer Brigade in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and with 802nd Engineer Battalion in Camp Humphreys Korea. His last duty assignment was with the Los Angeles Army Corps of Engineers District assigned to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. In 1994, Kurt began his civilian career as a Project Manager and Department Manager of Construction Material Testing with Converse Consultants. Over his six years with Converse, Kurt managed a wide variety of projects and clients in the residential, commercial, and public work areas. He also mentored and developed many technicians, special inspectors and junior engineers and project managers. In 2000, was hired by GeoTek as a Project Manager. As with Converse, Kurt managed a wide variety of projects and clients in the residential, commercial, and public works areas. He eventually was promoted to the Las Vegas Branch Manager and to Vice President with the company. Kurt is a registered Professional Engineer in Nevada and Virginia. He enjoys playing golf and following the Boston professional sports teams.
